Nigerian teen sensation, Oyinlomo Quadre claimed her second ITF title in as many weeks with a comfortable 6-2 6-2 victory over Benenois, Carmine Becoude in the final of the West African Under-18 Junior Circuit in Lome, Togo.
The 13-year-old rising star has now won back-to-back titles without conceding a set, adding the Lome title to last week’s triumph in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Quadre’s victories are made even more remarkable by the fact that she had never competed in an ITF under-18 tournament before her recent conquests in the West African cities.
Quadre’s triumph in the Togolese capital included a 6-1 6-3 outclassing of Spanish top seed, Helena Jansen Figueras in the quarter finals, while fellow Nigerian Angel McLeod succumbed to a 6-3 6-3 defeat in the semi-finals.
Quadre has now beaten rival, McLeod in back-to-back weeks.
The final against Becoude was a repeat of the Cotonou title match, and while it was not as comprehensive as last week’s 6-0 6-0 dispatch, it was an equally dominant performance from the Nigerian, who has now risen to number 579 in the world junior rankings.
Quadre will hope to make it a hattrick of titles this week, as she competes in the third and final leg of her West African tour in Lome.
