Blessing Samuel produced a stunning performance to thrash Sarah Adegoke 6-2, 6-1 to win her fourth Dala Hard Court Tennis title.
Perhaps, the agony of narrowly losing last year’s final served as a propellant, the 26-year-old strung together a brilliant week, dropping only one set on her way to the final. She defeated top seed, Christie Agugbom in the last four, earning her revenge for last year’s final defeat.
Friday’s opponent, Sarah Adegoke, had also put together an excellent week, taking out Oyinlomo Quadre, Aanu Aiyegbusi, and Patience Onebamhoin, but the 20-year-old could not find the same level against Samuel in the final, as she was well beaten by her more experienced opponent.
Winner of the CBN Senior Tennis Championship earlier in the year, Adegoke will now turn her attentions to this weekend semi-final clash at the NCC Tennis Cup, when her Team, Offikwu take on Team Civil Defence in Abuja.
In the Men’s Doubles, the pair of Abdulmumin Babalola and Shehu Lawal, one that has arguably been the best for over a decade, proved too much for Thomas Otu and Joseph Iyorovbe as they strolled to a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the final..
The Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship is set to come to a close today, Saturday with the Men’s Singles final between Joseph Imeh and Joseph Imeh.
