Six-time CBN Open champion, Abdulmumin Babalola will have his vast experience at his disposal when he takes on 20-year-old Sylvester Emmanuel in the final of the CBN Senior Open Tennis Championship in Abuja.
Babalola has put up an impressive performance so far in the capital city, progressing through a tricky half of the draw to reach the final. He’s done that without dropping a set; better still, the lefthander, in each match played, hasn’t conceded more than 3 games.
Can Sylvester Emmanuel stop the veteran from capping off a sensational week in Abuja?
Emmanuel came through a difficult section of the draw and has beaten arguably the toughest players to reach the final. He defeated former national champion, Henry Atseye 6-3, 6-4 in the third round, sacked Nigeria’s No.1, Joseph Imeh 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and then bounced back from a set down to stun former number one, Clifford Enosoregbe in the semis. He will, however, face his toughest test when he takes to court against Babalola, who’s gunning for his seventh title at this event.
Emmanuel reached the final in 2016, but fell to Moses Michael. Last year, he was beaten by Babalola in the semis.
Can he go a step better this time around and clinch his maiden CBN Open title here in Abuja?
This match is live on Saturday from the Tennis Complex of the National Stadium in Abuja.
