Daniil Medvedev beats Marton Fucsovics to claim Sofia Open title

It's the 22-year-old's fourth career ATP Tour title and first in the 2019 season

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev turned on a rock solid performance to beat Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics 6-4, 6-3 and claim the Sofia Open title on Sunday – his fourth career ATP Tour title.

Ranked 16th in the world and seeded third at the event, Medvedev proved too much for the 47th-ranked Fucsovics as he added the Sofia title to his victories in Tokyo, Winston-Salem and Sydney in 2018.

The Russian has won 11 of 13 matches he’s played in this season and will now head to Holland for this week’s Rotterdam Open as he bids for a fifth career title.

Meanwhile, Fucsovics, on account of reaching the final, will rise to No.38 in the ATP rankings when the updated rankings list is released on Monday, 11 February.
