Nigeria’s Christian Paul crashed out of the second leg of the Governor’s Cup after a 6-2 6-4 loss to Frenchman, Gianni Mina in the opening round.
Paul was one of four Nigerians to exit the tournament on Tuesday, as Umaru Balami fell 6-4 6-1 to top seed, Enrique Lopez-Perez, while Henry Atseye suffered a 6-0 6-3 defeat to second seed, Calvin Hemery.
Edward Anefu was beaten 6-2 6-4 by Spaniard, Alejandro Fokina.
Despite the no-show for home players on Tuesday, five Nigerian players will be in second round action on Wednesday, with the impressive Sylvester Emmanuel tasked with taking down the number one seed, Lopez-Perez.
Clifford Enosoregbe will confront Tunisian, Moez Echargui, Thomas Otu takes on Poland’s Maciej Smola, Mohammed Mohammed is up against India’s Sasi Kumar Mukund, while Joseph Imeh Ubon battles Dutchman, Boy Westerhof.
