Imeh progresses as Quadre, others crash out of Governor’s Cup

Joseph Imeh is going to be Nigeria’s sole representative in the second round of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship after he defeated Stephan Fransen 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the first round of the second leg.

Imeh started the match on a poor note, losing the 1st set scandalously without picking a single point.

The young warlock then rallied to win the 2nd set and totally annihilated the Dutch star in the final set to the admiration of the spectators inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.

In other matches concerning Nigerians decided this morning, Oyinlomo Quadre lost 4-6, 0-6 to No. 2 seed Hamony Tan.

Christopher Bulus, who lost the 1st set 4-6, 4-6 against Setodji Thomas, while Henry Atseye retired in the 2nd set against Vucic Ilija after losing the 1st 2-6.

Adetayo Adetunji lost within 40 minutes to 1st leg winner Deniz Khazaniuk 1-6, 1-6.

Thomas Otu was not good enough when he came up against Leny Mitjana, losing 6-2, 6-0.

Clifford Enosoregbe couldn’t keep up with the quality of play from 1st leg winner Peđa Krstin from Serbia succumbing to a 6-3, 6-2 defeat.
