Kvitova Storms to Wuhan Title

Petra Kvitova produced a devastating display to earn a comprehensive 6-1 6-1 victory over Dominica Cibulkova in the final of the Wuhan Open on Saturday.

The 2-time Wimbledon champion stormed out of the blocks, winning 17 of the first 18 points, and eventually closed out a dominant victory in just sixty-three minutes.

Kvitova’s path to the final was far from plain-sailing, needing over three hours to edge out world number one, Angelique Kerber in an epic round of 16 contest, but she has look untouchable since them, dismissing Johanna Konta, Simona Halep, and now Cibulkova in straight sets.

Kvitova’s first title of a largely disappointing keeps alive her hopes of qualifying for the season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore.
