The Last Four
The women’s field of the Lagos Open has opened up nicely for top seed, Conny Perrin.
The 27-year-old Swiss headlines a four-woman field entering Friday’s semifinals in a tournament that no longer features second seed Deniz Khazaniuk, who entered as the defending champion or third seed Valeriya Strakhova.
Khazaniuk suffered a bruising defeat at the hands of India’s Pranjala Yadlapalli in the quarterfinals on Thursday, while Strakhova went down to Tereza Mihalikova in three sets.
Perrin will now square off against Tereza Mihalikova in one semifinal, while Pranjala Yadlapalli will take on Argentina’s Victoria Bosio, who’s seeded fourth, in the other.
In the men’s field, Tom Jomby will seek to move a step closer toward capturing a maiden Lagos Open title when the men’s semifinals get underway.
Jomby, the tournament’s top seed, will lock horns with seventh seed, Jack Draper of Great Britain with a spot in the final on the line.
The other semifinal will pit fourth seed, Arthur Rinderknech, who came in through the qualifiers, against fifth seed, Danylo Kalenichenko.
