Team Offikwu rounded off a perfect group stage campaign with a resounding 7-0 win over Team CBN Futures during the weekend at the Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna.

Team Offikwu had already sealed qualification prior to this match, but that didn’t stop them from doing what they know how to do best—WINNING — and in the best way possible.

The defending champions got off to a flying start as former national champion, Henry Atseye demolished Michael Osewa 6-0, 6-1 in the 1st Men’s Singles. Veteran, Shehu Lawal followed suit as he edged Godsgift Timibra 7-5, 6-3 in the 2nd Men’s Singles.

In the Ladies Singles, Aminat Quadri defeated Toyin Asogba 6-0, 7-5 to quickly send the hosts 3-0 up.

Christopher Itodo then teamed up with Shehu Lawal in the Men’s Double to beat CBN Future’s pair of Michael Osewa and Kayode Savage 6-0, 6-3, ending the day on a high.

Nothing changed the following day, Sunday as the pummelling continued with a 6-0, 5-7, 13-11 victory for Shehu Lawal over Emmanuel Jebutu in the 1st Reverse Singles, and a 6-2, 6-4 victory for Christopher Itodo over Abayomi Philips in the 2nd Reverse Singles.

An out-of-sorts Team CBN Futures couldn’t provide any sort of resistance in the Mixed Doubles as Godsgift Timibra and Favour Moses fell to a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Offikwu’s Henry Atseye and Aminat Quadri.

The victory ensured the defending champions finish atop the White Group standings with 5 points from 5 matches, and with a stunning win-loss game differential of 30-5.

They’ll surely go into the semi-finals riding on a high wave of confidence.

The semifinal matches have been scheduled to hold at the Enugu Sports Club Saturday, 18 November and Sunday, 19 November and in Abuja Saturday, 2 December and Sunday, 3 December.
