NCC Tennis Cup: Team TechVibe Fail to Qualify for Semis Despite Brilliant Win

Team TechVibe were ruthless against Team Yetade over the weekend at the Elim Tennis Club in Jos, Plateau State.

The host played their part, excellently, in a bid to snatch the last semi-final spot, as they routed Team Yetade 6-1 but unfortunately, Team Goshen did them no favours as they lost to an equally brilliant Team Ndoma-Egba side in Abuja.

Michael Michael gave the host a good start as he edged Michael Olajimbiti 6-4, 6-2 in the 1st Men’s Singles, while Musa Bala made light work of Team Yetade’s Ayodeji Omodara in the 2nd Men’s Singles, winning 6-3, 6-0.

In the Ladies Singles, Abies Amadasun of TechVibe fell to a 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 defeat to Yetade’s Omolayo Bamidele, but confidence was restored in the Men’s Double as Oche Adehi teamed up with Musa Bala to beat Yetade’s duo of Michael Olajimbiti and Ayodeji Omodara 7-5, 6-1, setting the total score at 3-1 on the day.

The following day, Sunday, Musa Bala kept up the good form as he defeated Michael Olajimbiti 6-3, 6-1 in the 1st Reverse Singles, and Michael Michael increased the tally as he thrashed Ayodeji Omodara 6-2, 6-0 in the 2nd Reverse Singles.

In the Mixed Doubles, the pair of Oche Adehi and Abies Amadasun completed the rout which was now meaningless at this point, as they beat Yetade’s duo of Ayodeji Omodara and Toyosi 6-3, 6-1.

The win leaves them (TechVibe) in 3rd place with 3 points, and they only now have next season to look forward to.
