At the Tennis Court, Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, during the weekend, Team Goshen played host to and were defeated 4-3 by newcomers, Team Tech Vibe in the ongoing NCC Tennis League.
Before coming into the match, Team Tech Vibe were without a single win and were bottom of the White Group standings.
In the first match of the Men’s Singles, Joseph Adim of Team Goshen lost to Tech Vibe’s Michael Michael 5-7, 4-6, while Musa Bala of Team Tech Vibe hammered Goshen’s Emmanuel Emeruwa in the second match 6-0, 6-2 to quickly give Team Tech Vibe a 2-0 lead on the day.
The Ladies Singles saw Patience Onebamhoin (Team Goshen) play Abies Amadasun in what was a one-sided affair. Patience soundly defeated Abies in the 1st set 6-2 before completing the rout 6-1 in the 2nd set.
In the Men’s Doubles, the pair of Joseph Adim and Jinadu Owolabi (Team Goshen) teamed up to face the duo of Musa Bala and Ochei Adehi (Team Tech Vibe) in an entertaining match-up that spanned three sets. In the 1st set, Joseph and Jinadu edged Bala and Adehi 7-5, but they lost the 2nd set 5-7 before coming out on top in the tie-break 10-8 to win the match.
At the end of the Men’s Doubles, the total score for both teams was set at 2-all, leaving them with all to play for the following day.
On Sunday, Joseph Adim of Team Goshen took on Tech Vibe’s Musa Bala in the 1st Reverse Singles. Joseph Adim was again beaten 6-3, 6-2.
In the 2nd Reverse Singles, Jinadu Owolabi fell to defeat at the hands of Tech Vibe’s Michael Michael 3-6, 6(4)-7. As a result, his team (Goshen) had no chance of victory for the weekend as Team Tech Vibe were already 4-2 up with only one match left to play.
The final match for the weekend was the Mixed Doubles, with Jinadu Owolabi and Patience Onebamhoin (Team Goshen) coming up against Musa Bala and Abies Amadasun. Musa Bala and Abies couldn’t withstand the firepower of Jinadu and Patience as they were outclassed 6-2, 6-2.
