Sylvester Emmanuel is the only player ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in the men’s double category. He is currently ranked 897th in the World, a personal best ranking.

On the flip side, no player of Nigerian heritage is ranked by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in the women’s singles category as at the time of this publication.

However Melissa Ifidzhen is currently ranked World No. 1285 in the women’s double category, having dropped from No. 1293 in the most recent update of the rankings.

Adetayo Adetunji has shot into the top 400 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior tennis players in the world.

In the ranking released by the ITF website on Monday, 18 September, Adetunji moved up by 155 places to 369 in the World and number 10 in Africa, a feat which was occasioned by her success at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit championship in the first leg.

Oyinlomo Quadri, who was in the World’s top 400 last year, has dropped 133 places from No. 500 to No. 633 in the World.
