The Rainoil Tennis Championship continues today, Wednesday with some mouthwatering match-ups as one of the big names risk facing a second round exit.
Teammates, Abdulmumuni Babalola and Clifford Enosorogbe will square off today for a place in the quarter-final. Both men were instrumental in their team’s (Civil Defence) victory in the NCC Tennis Cup final last weekend, but today’s match-up will see them face each other in what could turn into one of the matches of the tournament.
Both players posted brilliant first round results and are both in impressive form at the moment, but one would have to bow out. Who will that be? This is one match to look out for. The winner of this match could face either former national champion, Henry Atseye or Uche Okparaoji, who are in action today, in the quarter-finals.
Dala Hard Court champion, Thomas Otu will fancy his chances of getting through to the quarter-final when he takes on Michael Michael, while Sylvester Emmanuel tackles youngster, Michael Chima for a chance to play Joseph Imeh in the quarter-final. Joseph Imeh is red-hot favourite to advance to the quarters as he has wild card beneficiary, Tochukwu Ezeh to take on.
In the Women’s Singles, Sarah Adegoke tackles Oluchi Ozurumba, while Quadri Aminat will take on Aanu Aiyegbusi. Also, national women’s champion, Christie Agugbom will have Deborah Gbadamosi to contend with.
In the other half of the draw, Bukola Olowu would have a lot to do when she squares off against the brilliant Blessing Samuel, while veteran, Rose Abu faces Loveth Donatus for a place in the quarter-finals.
