Sylvester Emmanuel, Joseph Imeh ease into Dala Hard Court quarterfinals

Two-time champion, Sylvester Emmanuel produced an outstanding performance against Henry John, while top seed, Joseph Imeh was at his usual best against Michael Michael at the Kano Club on Wednesday.

Emmanuel’s imposing play and firepower proved too much for Henry John as he was beaten 6-3, 6-1. Emmanuel, who won titles at this event in 2015 and 2016, will next face either Henry Atseye or Emmanuel Sunday in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Joseph Imeh, in the other match, made light work of Michael Michael, winning 6-3, 6-2 to stay on track for a second straight national title. Imeh will next face Uche Oparaoji in what will be a repeat of their Rainoil semifinal clash, which Imeh won in straight sets.

Oparaoji had defeated Bikom Albert 6-2, 7-6(4) to advance.

Elsewhere, Christian Paul continued his poor run of form in national tournaments as he was beaten 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 by Emmanuel Idoko.
