Team Civil Defence over the weekend at the Lekan Salami Stadium tennis court in Ibadan, recorded their first win of the season in the ongoing NCC Tennis League, beating Team Oluyole 7-0.
The team had earlier lost their season opener to Team Muller of Lagos but bounced back to humiliate the hosts and secure four points in the process.
Salami Ganiyu, bowed to former national champion, Clifford Enosorogbe, 6-2, 6-4 while Nonso Maduekwe defeated Oluyole’s Kunle Bamidele 6-1, 6-2 in the men’s singles. Kaosarat Adegboyega lost to Dala Hard Court title holder, Christy Agugbom 6-0, 6-1 in the ladies singles.
The team completed the routing of the hosts in the men’s doubles as the pair of reigning CBN champion, Abdulmumuni Babalola, and Clifford Enosorogbe beat the duo Adewale Samson and Salami Ganiyu 6-1, 6-0.
In the reverse men’s singles, Chima Michael defeated Ismaila Adesina 6-3, 7-6 while Nonso Maduekwe subdued veteran player, Wasiu Ibrahim, 6-4, 6-3. In the mixed doubles, Babalola and Agugbom beat the pair of Bamidele and Adegboyega 6-0, 6-0.
