Team Goshen over the weekend at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, continued with their winning ways in the ongoing NCC Tennis League cup, as they beat Team CBN Futures 5-2.
The team had earlier beaten Team Yetade by the same scoreline in Ekiti State.
In the first match of the Men’s Singles, Joseph Adim of Team Goshen defeated Stephen Augustine of CBN Futures 6-4, 6-2, while Team Goshen’s Jinadu Owolabi lost to the Junior National champion Michael Osewa, 6(2)-7, 1-6 in the second match to set the score at one all for both teams.
In the Ladies Singles, Patience Onebamhoin proved a quality replacement for Marylove Edwards (who has travelled to the US to start her pro tennis career) as she thumped Toyin Asogba of Team CBN Futures 6-0, 6-4.
In the fourth match, Joseph Adim teamed up with Niyi Ibiwoye in the Men’s Doubles to beat Michael Osewa and Abayomi Philips of CBN Futures 7-5, 6-4.
At the end of the fourth match, Team Goshen led Team CBN Futures 3-1
The first Reverse Singles saw Joseph Adim of Team Goshen being pitted against Michael Osewa of Team CBN Future. Joseph Adim completely destroyed Michael 6-0, 6-1, to further cement his team’s victory for the weekend.
In the second Reverse Singles, Wale Babalola of Team Goshen was soundly defeated 6-2, 6-1 by Stephen Augustine of CBN Futures.
The Mixed Doubles was the seventh and last match, and it was Patience Onebamhoin and Jinadu Owolabi who teamed up to crush Aderemi Omolade and Emmanuel Jebutu of Team CBN Futures 6-3, 6-2.
The NCC Tennis League which is offering a consolidated total Prize money of 23 million, continues this weekend with matches in Rivers State, Abuja, and Kwara State.
