The NCC Tennis League is set to take center stage this weekend across three different venues after a three weeks hiatus.
The only consequential match this weekend is going to be between Team Kalotari and Team Civil Defence at the Port Harcourt club as both teams seek the final qualification slot in Blue Group.
The hosts, Team Kalotari are currently placed second on the log, thanks to a superior match difference.
The visiting team, Civil Defence are slight favourites to win this match, on the basis that they parade current Nigeria’s male and female No. 1’s, Clifford Enosoregbe and Christie Agugbom as well as Abdulmumuni Babalola (former No. 1 and 2017 senior CBN winner)
The hosting team, Kalotari are equally up for the task ahead as they also have top players like Christian Paul and Blessing Samuel in their ranks.
Surprisingly, Team Kalotari are the only team to have won three fixtures without dropping a match (7-0 victories against Team Optiwebb, Team VGC Lions, Team Oluyole)
Team Civil Defence have also been in scintillating form, winning all of their last three fixtures since losing to Team Muller at the National Stadium in Abuja on opening day. As a matter of fact they could have as well boasted of a record of three 7-0 victories, if not for the little blemish they had when they won Team Optiwebb 6-1 after winning 7-0 against VGC Lions and Oluyole
A victory for either side will qualify them for the semis to face intimidating Team Offikwu.
The matches will be played on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of October.
This match is too close to call. I think whoever wants it the most will eventually win but by just a single match. May the best team win.
