Final round-robin matches in Group Guga Keurten will take all the attention in London today as Marin Cilic, Alexander Zverev and John Isner are all hoping to secure a semifinal spot. Djokovic has already qualified and will only need a win to secure top spot. Makes it all the more interesting and intense.
So, let’s get around this.
Alexander Zverev vs John Isner (Over 25.5 games at 1.87) Group Guga Kuerten
Zverev and Isner are seeking qualification. Isner needs to beat Zverev in straight sets and hopes Djokovic ousts Cilic to qualify. But, Zverev is no pushover. The young German, on his end, also needs to win to progress, provided Djokovic beats Cilic. Both men will play out their lungs, expect that.
They’ve met each other five times, including twice this year and while Zverev holds a 4-1 lead over the American, their last four matches have been very close. I fancy another close encounter here, given what is at stake. Over 25.5 games should settle this crucial duel, and 1.87 is some good odd!
Novak Djokovic vs Marin Cilic (Over 20.5 games at 1.72), Group Guga Kuerten
Marin Cilic needs to beat Djokovic and then hope Isner takes out Zverev in order to qualify. While that could be a stretch of the imagination given Djokovic’s form, I expect the Croat to push Djokovic here.
The head-to-head is terrible for Cilic as he’s trailing 2-16, but each of their past three encounters have required a deciding set, which is good for us. Given the nature of this match, I expect Cilic to even do more. This should be another closely contested encounter. Back that up- 1.72 for over 20.5 games!
