The French Open serves off today with lots of hopes and expectations. It’s a star-studded and heavily packed field at the Roland Garros in Paris. We have, however, sifted today’s list of matches and brought you the top three betting tips for the day:
Ricardas Berankis vs Alexander Zverev (Berankis to win Under 8.5 games at 1.75 on Nairabet) ATP French Open, R1.
Alexander Zverev will come way with the win. No questions about that! The 21-year-old has been fantastic all year. He’s been dominant on clay this season and only second to Nadal, unarguably! Back-to-back titles at the Bavarian Int’l and Madrid Open before finishing as a runner-up in Italy.
Luthania’s Berankis, meanwhile, hasn’t made any impact on Tour this year. He’s only been relatively good in the Challenger Series where he made big splashes in Rennes and St. Brieuc. Honestly, that kind of showing isn’t enough to guarantee you a good match against a player like Zverev on clay and at a time like this. This is going to be Lithuanian’s first match on clay this season. This is going to be one of the lopsided matches of the day. I don’t see Berankis taking more than 8 games from Zverev. Under 8.5 games for the Lithuanian at 1.75 is a great pick!
Kei Nishikori vs Maxime Janvier (3 sets at 1.40 on Nairabet), ATP French Open, R1
Who else sees this match going beyond 3 sets? Nobody? Okay. Good. Because it won’t! Frenchman, Janvier, who benefitted from a Wild Card, will be making his debut at a Slam when he walks out on court to face Nishikori. While Nishikori has had plenty of clay court success throughout his career, reaching two Masters 1000 finals on the surface and the French Open quarterfinals twice, Janvier has never before played a Tour-level match before.
There is a gulf of class and experience between the two players. There shouldn’t be much to say about this. Back Nishikori to close this in straight sets. 1.40 is even generous!
Elina Svitolina to beat Ajla Tomljanovic at 1.30 on Nairabet. WTA French Open, R1.
Poper respect to Tomljanovic’s hustle, but this is going to be another lopsided match at Roland Garros today. Svitolina is in excellent form. She’s fresh off winning the Italian Open in Rome, where she made light work of a star-studded field. Surely, she’s brought that form into Paris and with the world number one ranking and a maiden Grand Slam title in sight, she’ll be all the more difficult to play against.
This is going to be a first time meeting between the two. And while I expect Tomljanovic to put up a good fight, it’s really going to be the best she could do, because a win here is certain for Svitolina. Back that up at 1.30 on Nairabet.
