Nigeria’s no. 1 Joseph Imeh, Rainoil-sponsored Sylvester Emmanuel and Emmanuel Audu were the only Nigerians to make the Main Draws of the Tombim Open through the qualifying.
Joseph Imeh was all over India’s Anurag Nenwani in their second round match as the 20-year-old recorded a 7-6(11), 6-2 victory.
In the other match, Lebanon’s Giovani Samaha couldn’t match the extra firepower of Sylvester Emmanuel as the Barcelona-based Nigerian made it to the main draws with a 6-4, 7-5 win.
Emmanuel Audu, who had earlier beaten Clifford Enosoregbe in round one of qualifying, squeezed through with a 7-5, 7-6(4) victory over Frenchman, Alexandru Danes.
Michael Michael completes the list of Nigerians in the main draw after benefiting from a wild card.
Main Draws action gets underway on Monday, 16 April at the Tennis Complex of the National Stadium in Abuja.
