Rafael Nadal vs Gael Monfils (Under 17.5 games at 2.00 on Nairabet)

Rafael Nadal and Gael Monfils meet in the second round of the Madrid Open.

Nadal will win, yes! He’s 13-2 against Monfils; 5-0 against the Frenchman on clay; he has won 17 straight matches on clay, and so on… Records too numerous, ones that prove his superiority on this surface. I’m however, backing Nadal to take his win in yet another ruthless fashion just like he’s been doing on this surface. Monfils has never played his best tennis on clay and comes into this tournament in shaky form. He wouldn’t be able to put up a fair challenge against Nadal here. I’m backing this match to be decided in Under 17.5 games. 2.00 for that is really good!

Dominic Thiem to beat Federico Delbonis at 1.22 on Nairabet, ATP Madrid Open, R2

2017 Madrid Open finalist, Dominic Thiem squares off against Federico Delbonis in the second round of the Madrid Open.

These two have met just once and it was on clay in 2015. Thiem claimed a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 win in that match. Aside that, Thiem is the better player on this surface. Dubbed the ‘Prince of Clay’, the Austrian, having gotten a much needed rest after his Monte-Carlo and Barcelona campaigns, should surely be in better shape now and should have just enough to better the Argentine qualifier. Back Thiem for the win at 1.22 on Nairabet.

Petra Kvitova to beat Anett Kontaveit at 1.35 on Nairabet, WTA Madrid Open, R3

Two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova and 22-year-old Estonian Anett Kontaveit meet in the third round of the Madrid Open.

Petra Kvitova came into the Madrid Open on the back of a title-winning run in Prague. The Czech has brought that form into Madrid and has dropped only one set in her last seven matches on clay. Kontaveit, equally, arrived Madrid in quite a good form. A run to the semis at the Stuttgart Open, and impressive results against Venus Williams and Sasnovich in the first and second rounds, consecutively. Kvitova however, will be a really tough test for her. The Czech is a better and more experienced player. I don’t see Kontaveit getting away with this. And just like their first and only meeting, I’m backing Kvitova to come out on top with another win. Back that up at 1.35 on Nairabet.
