The Chevron Junior Tennis Development Program, which is aimed at giving youngsters basic tennis skills, information to enable them take up the sport for recreation or competition and knowledge to follow the game at the highest level, will have a three-day tennis clinic in Akure, Ondo state capital.
The program, run by the International Tennis Academy, is slated to tour 5 cities in Nigeria—Warri, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Abuja. It had earlier held in Warri last December, before moving to Lagos a week ago. It will now take a three-day stop in Akure from Wednesday, 9 January to Friday, 11 January.
According to the director of the International Tennis Academy, considerable progress has been made with tennis clinic so far, with participants already learning how to serve, whip forehands, hit backhands, volleys and overheads – the five major strokes of tennis.
Also, some of the participants revealed how glad they were with the program and are looking forward to further improving their play.
The program will hit a climax with the Chevron Junior Tennis Championship in March.
