The four-time runners-up held a 2-1 advantage heading into Sunday’s reverse singles, but Britain’s Andy Murray restored parity with a straight sets dismissal of Guido Pella- setting up a decisive fifth rubber.

Both sides made changes to their original line-ups, with Leonardo Mayer coming in for the exhausted Juan Martin del Potro, while Britain opted to go with Dan Evans, rather than Kyle Edmund.

Evans looked set to justify the faith of his captain when he took the first set of the fifth rubber in impressive fashion, but Mayer hit back with some impressive serving to level matters, before eventually outclassing his opponent in four sets to send Argentina into final against Croatia.

Marin Cilic was the star as Croatia overcame France to book a place in November’s final.

  1. I wanted to put you this tiny note to finally say thanks the moment again about the extraordinary strategies you have discussed on this website. This has been simply tremendously open-handed with people like you to present unhampered all that a number of people would have marketed as an electronic book to make some money for themselves, notably seeing that you could have done it if you ever considered necessary. The good ideas as well served to provide a fantastic way to know that the rest have similar dreams like my personal own to realize way more in regard to this issue. I’m sure there are several more pleasant instances in the future for people who look over your blog post.
